After completing an apprenticeship program, my professional working career began working in the automotive repair industry as a licensed Automotive Service Technician as well as Truck and Coach Technician, primarily for local automotive dealerships. This evolved into managing a fleet of vehicles and equipment for a local company, then later, as a industrial millwright/manager for a steel mill. Having been exposed to so many areas of technology in these positions was instrumental in building my mechanical and electrical skill set. This knowledge transitioned into my leisure pastime of boating (sailing) in which I have diagnosed, repaired and replaced systems on my own boats as well as vessels of many fellow sailors over many years.

In June 2021, my wife and I decided to take a sabbatical from our working careers and sailed off down the St. Lawrence River, Atlantic Canada, the U.S. East Coast and then to the bottom end of the Bahamas. We returned home June 2022 after logging 6,622 nautical miles. Upon our return, I decided to pursue self-employment as a Yacht Surveyor through a course at Chapman School of Seamanship in Stuart, Florida where I successfully graduated their "Yacht and Small Craft Surveying" course and earned my ABYC Standards Certification. Shortly thereafter, I was accepted as a Surveyor Associate with the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyor (SAMS®) and eventually earned my full designation as an Accredited Marine Surveyor (AMS® #1450). Recently, I accepted the position of Regional Director for Canada on behalf of SAMS®.
